What’s In For 2022?
You know the drill. It’s a new year, and that means new wedding trends!
We’ve got a list of what’s trending this year…and what’s not.
So let’s dive in!
On The Out
We’ll get the negativity out of the way first, shall we?
Here’s what’s out:
Wedding Registries for Physical Goods – Many brides and grooms have what they need for a new home already. Minimalism is ever on the rise, after all. Others just want to be sustainable (more on that later). Wedding registries are seeing fewer physical items and more charitable donations and honeymoon funds.
Micro Weddings – Don’t get us wrong; we love an intimate wedding! But after so many changes and disruptions to weddings across the globe over the last two years, brides and grooms are ready to party in a big way! Intimate weddings are expected to be few and far between this year.
Balloons – Who doesn’t love a balloon arch? But let’s face it, balloons are horrible for the environment. Not to mention that there’s no guarantee how long they’ll last. Balloons as decorations are headed out.
Bouquet and Garter Tossing – This tradition is becoming less and less common, especially as we head into 2022. Experts are predicting that brides will be ditching this one altogether soon in favor of more time on the dance floor.
Wedding Favors – We love seeing our brides and grooms wedding favors, so we’re a little sad about this one. Favors are a direct representation of a couple’s love, and we are here for it! But in 2022, experts expect fewer couples to be passing out physical goods to their guests. Still in for now are wedding must-haves (think hangover patches and koozies).
Oh So In
There’s a long list of trends for 2022 already, and we’ve barely begun the year!
And of course, there are a few we are dying to talk about:
Fun and Interactive Entertainment – This one is our absolute favorite. Why? There are so many ways to do it! Two that come to mind instantly are photo booths and live bands. A live band will engage your guests all night long, and when they need a break – photo shoot time! Champagne walls are another option no one thinks about…why pass champagne across the bar when it can be handed to you through a magical hedge wall!? And don’t forget about the drinks outside of the bar! Coffee trucks are the perfect final touch to the day (not to mention a great pick-me-up for those dancing feet).
Sparkler Exits – We have to say it: we were on it before it was trending. We don’t see this one going away any time soon!
Alternatives to Traditional Engagement Rings – Non-traditional engagement rings are trending, specifically when it comes to moissanite and emeralds. Also trending are gorgeous and unique salt and pepper diamonds…because these days it’s all about being one-of-a-kind.
Bouquet Preservation – You spent a ton of time deciding which hues fit your color scheme and what kinds of blooms should be front and center. Your wedding flowers should be something you can enjoy for years to come, and with bouquet preservation, they can be! Pressed floral frames and resin flower blocks are the answer you’ve been searching for.
Sustainability – The planet is front-of-mind in 2022, and that means sustainability is being considered in the wedding planning process. Specifically, virtual save the dates are taking the place of traditional mailings. Vintage and thrifted attire is also trending.
Bright and Dark Colors – Out with traditional colors, muted palettes, and neutral tones…and in with big and bold! Bright colors are already everywhere. Even dark color palettes are trending this year.
Flowers, Flowers, and More Flowers – Imagine walking into a reception and feeling like you’ve walked into a botanical oasis. Flowers everywhere. Amazing, right? In 2022, flowers are expected to be the focal point of wedding decor. Think ceilings of florals accented by lights and overflowing flower arches at every entrance.
Of course, there’s more trending. What’s a new year without new ideas? But we’re not going to list them all, just our favorites.
Why not?
Here’s why…Do you know what the number one rule of wedding planning is?
DO WHAT’S RIGHT FOR YOU!
If you’re not someone who cares about what’s trending, what’s in, what’s out – you do you! If nothing else, maybe this list will give you some ideas for planning your big day.
If you are someone who follows the trends, this should be enough to get you started!
